Economy

Your economy is your responsibility

When you arrive, the Resettlement Team will provide you with a cash card. The money on the card is for subsistence.

The subsistence payment is individually calculated based on current rates and should cover normal expenses for food, clothing, transportation, etc.

The money should last until the next payment in 1 month. It is important that you always keep track of how much you spend and how much is left on the card. It is your responsibility to have enough money for the next payment.

Only use the money for the most essential things like food, clothing, and transportation. Norway is an expensive country.

Until you receive economical support or other income, the municipality will pay for your rent and electricity.

Note that if you want to have internet, you will have to pay for it yourself from day one.

Once you start receiving economical support or any other type of income, you are responsible for paying all your expenses.

If you do not have enough money for necessary expenses, you can apply NAV (Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) for financial social assistance.  Contact your Program Advisor if you need financial assistance.
