Introduction program

With an end goal of getting a job or higher education

The municipality will offer an introduction program for you, aged between 18 and 55 years old, within 3 months of arrival.

The purpose of the program is to help you quickly enter employment or start education, and become financially independent.

It requires a strong personal effort; working hard and purposefully towards a clear goal - a specific job or education.

The duration of the program is determined based on your desired end goal, and your educational background. The duration can range from 3 months to 4 years. Note: If you have higher education, the automatic end goal will be employment.

The content of the program is individually tailored. This means that the program differs from person to person.

A Program Advisor will plan the program together with you and be your contact person and supporter throughout the program.

The Integration Unit regularly assesses your efforts and focus, and will terminate the program if you do not actively work towards your end goal.

The program usually ends upon achieving the desired end goal or duration. In some cases, the program can be extended. Extension is based on an individual assessment and requires an application.

Note: If you have temporary collective protection status, you have the right, but not the obligation, to participate in the introduction program. If you choose to start the program, you are obligated to follow the rules for the introduction program as stated in the Integration Act.

You will receive a salary and vacation. Your age and the duration of the program will impact the amount of salary and vacation time you are entitled to. Please contact your advisor for more information.

You can find information about the introduction program from Norwegian authorities here: Ny i Norge (New in Norway).
